Why can't I play Diner Dash Hometown Hero on my laptop?

I have Diner Dash, Diner Dash 2, Diner Dash: Flo on the Go, and Diner Dash: Hometown Hero. I can play all of them, but when I try to play story mode on Hometown Hero, it says Diner Dash has stopped working and closes out the program. I've tried playing it with and without the CD-ROM in and can't figure it out. I have a brand new HP windows laptop.
