What is the filter that is falling apart in my 2005 Dodge Stratus?

There is a black porous filter in the dash of my 2005 Dodge Stratus. It is falling apart and coming out of the vent in my car when I turn on the AC or Defrost. The parts house says there is no Cabin Filter in the 2005 Dodge Stratus. Does anyone know what this filter is, how to replace it and where I can find another one???
