My xbox randomly froze but no red ring. 10 pts!!?

ok so i took my xbox to my friends house and we were playing a game of zombies and then it froze. so i turned it off and back on again and it wouldnt get to the dash board. so i took it home and i pluged everything in and it worked for a little wile then froze again. but still no red ring. has this happened to you or do you know what to do bc that would be great.
